“Lord, Take My Hand.”
Lord, this mountain is so high
I can’t find the strength to climb
But if you will take my hand
I will try it one more time.
Lord, the sea of life is stormy
I can’t bring my boat to shore
But if you will take the helm
I will try it just once more.
Lord, the valley is so dark
I can’t seem to find my way
Take my hand and lead me through
Until I see the light of day.
Through the mountains, o’er the sea
Anything you ask, I’ll do
But I cannot go alone
Take my hand, Lord, you come too.

About the Book
In this, my first published book, I have taken some eighty-six poems from more than three hundred I have written over nearly fifty years. Some express a simple faith in God the Father, some give praises to Jesus, some focus on biblical events and people, and some are what I call the opposite of the parables of Jesus. Instead of comparing an earthly situation with a heavenly situation, as Jesus did, I contrast the two. Some good examples are “Scars,” “God Will Never Leave Us,” and “You Can Count on Me.”
Finally, I have included poems about family relationships, including mothers, fathers, and daughters. If you are a Christian, I hope this book will bless you; if you don’t know Jesus as your Savior, it is my prayer that God will use this book to show you one simple truth that Jesus loves you.
About the Author
Ernest David Quinn was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He worked for more than twenty years at a local newspaper, the Spartanburg Herald-Journal, and has now semi-retired. This is his first book, but he has already started writing another one called “Bible Folks.” The first chapter is included at the end of this book.
