A Mere Bard Just a poet I am Of writing at best I am a mere bard Seizing inspirations that come and leave And penning them clear and unmarred With words crafted to sway and cleave. An art form in word, verse and phrase Meanings rest on and between lines Emotions and feelings are the clay Of the poem's thematic rhymes. Master of intent, novice of invention Cathartic compositions come to be Casual compliments I might mention It’s nice to receive such pleasantries. That I write is a God-given talent Thanks giving daily I am obliged That I serve others is my aspirant To magnify my gifts to be precise.
