I probably did this for a year until the night when my life was almost taken from me. I had come down from Tampa and I was going out with some friends. I picked up this guy and we were going to go gas up the car. There were some people out in the street partying and I started to cuss them out, telling them to get out of the road. They eventually had to move because I was going to run them over. Some of those guys that were in the street didn’t like the way that I was talking to them so they followed me to the gas station. While I was pumping gas they opened fire on me with a .38.

His parents left everything behind when they fled Cuba, starting over in Florida. But eventually they divorced, and Ramirez rarely saw his father.

About the Author
Eddie Ramirez is a certified minister of Global University and pastor of House of God and Gate of Heaven Church in Miami, Florida. He has also been a youth pastor, served in children’s ministry, been a part-time missionary, and a church board member. His personal mission is to preach the Gospel to the ends of the Earth. He and his wife, Raquel, have two daughters: Gisselle and Rachel.
