John 1 is such a miraculous chapter to stop and dwell on for a few minutes. “In the beginning”. As we start the first chapter of John we can think of Genesis 1 as we discover the creation of all that exists. Here in John 1 we see creation as well as an implication of the trinity just as we see in Genesis 1. Let us consider Genesis 1 discussing the creation, the 1st chapter of Matthew discussing the human birth of our Savior, the 1st Chapter of John showing the divinity of and the 1st chapter of Revelation describing the majesty and glory of the risen, resurrected and ascended Anointed One. John 1 reveals Christ as the Word, the expression of God, the love of God for His people and the glory of Christ now and forever. How can we read this chapter and not be awed by the power, love and majesty of the One who came to save us and to make us children of God? In doing so He not only saves us but resides in our hearts through the Holy Spirit.

About the Author
David Eakin has loved the Gospel of John and longed to write a devotional on the marvelous witness of the life of Christ. He completed an undergraduate degree in Theology and during his final year was awarded the Outstanding Achievement in the Study of Theology. He subsequently decided to pursue a Masters of Divinity at Wartburg Theological Seminary.
