Maggie Mouse

Maggie could see Sid was patient and kind. She wondered what it was like to be in Sid’s world, everything seemed slow for Sid. “Maggie, you really should slow down. You are such a busy little mouse, when you rush through life you miss things along the way, important things,” said Sid. Maggie looked at Sid and wondered what he meant. Why would he say that? He didn’t understand what it felt like to run as fast as she did. It was an amazing feeling! Poor Sid, how could he understand, snails were very slow. “Sid, I don’t understand,” said Maggie. “What could possibly be better than running so fast that you can feel the wind in your hair? It’s all a wonderful game Sid, trying to run away from your own shadow,” laughed Maggie. Sid smiled slowly, “Maggie, this world is made up of beautiful things, things that cannot be seen if you rush all the time. You must slow down to notice them. Here, let me show you.” He took off his big thick glasses. “Look Maggie, look at my world,” said Sid. Maggie blinked her eyes, and then gasped as she looked around her, she squealed with joy! It was beautiful, big and bright. Everything moved in slow motion, she could see everything so clearly. It was amazing! Sid the snail’s world was not sad, it was wonderful. Maggie felt silly, why had she felt sorry for Sid? His slow world was a beautiful place, it was very different from her fast world. Maggie could see things through Sid’s glasses that she had never seen before. “You see Maggie, looking through someone else’s eyes will help you to see into their world. We all see things differently Maggie; you must take the time to look. Things are not always as they seem.
