Deep, deep in the dense green forest, little rays of sunshine were breaking through the branches dancing on the leaves and shining down on one special little spot--a hole in the mossy ground where a baby chipmunk had been born-- a baby chipmunk named Chipper. Chipper had a mommy, a daddy, a sister and a brother. All were very happy that Chipper had been born. A few years after Chipper was born, when the cold winds of winter were beginning to blow through the forest, Chipper's father left home never to return. Mamma Munk tried very hard to take care of her three little chipmunks, but sometimes there just wasn't enough food, and sometimes they were very cold.

About the Book
She recognized the need to address the children’s feelings of insecurity, uncertainty, low self-esteem, and their need to know their value and worth as indiviuals created by God. She also wants them to know that valuable lessons and gifts can come from our diffi cult times, and that God is always with them. She has expressed these messages through the story of Chipper. a young chipmunk who lived in several foster homes, a common experience for many foster children.
About the Author
Linda Lockhart has a Masters of Social Work and worked as a Caseworker early in her career. She developed and directed a program for Specialized Foster Care, serving children with severe emotional needs along with their foster famlies. She then worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as a mental health therapist with children and teens and their families for over twenty-fi ve years. Many of her clients were in foster care.
