I guess I was kind of tired from staying up most of the night, so I leaned back and decided to rest a minute. The next thing I remember is that I see myself running and looking back over my shoulder. I have this fear of someone chasing me. I feel my heart pounding like it has never done before. I keep looking back over my shoulder. I hear something close behind me. Never in my life have I ever felt this fear. It is more than just a feeling of being scared; it is like I am running for my life! Any minute now, whoever or whatever is chasing me will catch up with me and then my life will be over.
I open my eyes and look around. I am in the hayloft in the barn. I am sweating all over and my body is shaking. My heart is pumping so fast that I think I must be having a heart attack. I still feel like my life is in danger. What is going on? Why am I shaking and sweating? I have got to stop and think. What just happened?

John experiences many of “dreams” that put him in scary and dangerous situations. He wants to help his new friend Sam, but feels his own life is passing by fast. And it just might end if the team doesn’t solve the mystery soon.
About the Author
Gail Allison Griffi n grew up in a small town in Texas, where she met her husband. They have three children and five grandchildren. Gail loves to read books, bake cookies and of course, write children’s books. She fell in love with books when she visited her first library as a child.
In high school she was one of the librarian aides and she knew she wanted to be part of that world. By working at a school library for twenty five years, Gail has devoted her life to putting books into the hands of young readers.
